In the capital city of Raja Janak, Mithila, there was a skilled and virtuous princess named Janaki. Her mother's name was Maharani Sunaina. Maharaja Janak, proficient in the talents of the land, was preparing for a yajna (sacrificial ritual) that Janaki observed.

In the yajna's precincts, as Janaki was observing, a peculiar ceremony unfolded in which a beautiful child manifested along with a deep mark (tilak) on his forehead. Maharaja Janak lifted the child into his lap, and they went to the palace together.

Accompanying the child was a letter stating that this child had come in the form of Bhudevi (Mother Earth) and Maharaja Janak was to nurture and raise him. The child informed Maharaja Janak that, for some time, he would take birth in the form of Janaki.

After some time, the lap of Maharaja Janak and Maharani Sunaina was filled, and a beautiful daughter was born, whom they recognized as Janaki. Thus, Sita Mata was born, and she later met Lord Rama in a divine matrimony, playing a significant role in the epic Ramayana.
